The care of the patient is the first concern of our hospital. To facilitate medical and nursing care, visitors should adhere to the visiting times in The Mater Hospital.

Car Parking

A car park for visitors is situated in Eccles Street between the Mater public and the Mater private hospitals.
Eccles Street is a disc parking area. Parking discs may be purchased from a dispensing machine on Eccles Street adjacent to the entrance to the McGivney Wing (Phase 1A). There is a set-down collection point for patients located at the entrance to the McGivney Wing.

By train

The nearest train stations are:

  • Drumcondra station: 10 minute walk to the Whitty entrance, North Circular Road.
  • Connolly station: 25 minute walk to the Whitty entrance, North Circular Road. 10 minute taxi journey in light traffic.
  • Heuston station: 10 minute taxi journey in light traffic.

Driving

  • From the M50 northbound (from N11, N81, N7, N4)

    At junction 6, use the left lane to take the N3 to Castleknock. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Navan Rd/R147. Continue straight on R147 for approximately 6 km. Go straight through Phibsborough village onto North Circular Road. At the first set of traffic lights, turn right onto Berkeley Road. Take the first left onto Eccles Street. The car park is ahead on the left hand side. If you park on the street, please note that it is Pay and Display.

  • From the N2

    Take the N2 toward City Centre. Continue straight until you reach Botanic Road/R108/R135. Turn right onto Botanic Road. Continue straight and turn left onto North Circular Road in Phibsboro. Take the second right onto Berkeley Road. Take the first left onto Eccles Street. The car park is ahead on the left hand side. If you park on the street, please note that it is Pay and Display.

  • From the M1

    Follow signs to the City Centre. Drive straight through Drumchondra , over the canal onto Dorset Street. At the fourth set of traffic lights, turn right onto Eccles Street. The car park is on the right hand side, after the Mater Private Hospital. If you park on the street, please note that it is Pay and Display.
